Industrial Pretreatment Specialist
Littleton/Englewood Wastewater Treatment Plant, Colorado
Compensation: Up to $24.33 per hour depending on qualifications Excellent benefits package!

Work Overview: The Industrial Pretreatment Specialist regulates process wastewater discharges from industrial and commercial users in the service area of the Littleton/Englewood Wastewater Treatment Plant. The Industrial Pretreatment Specialist is a technical expert with the Federal Clean Water Act regulations, state environment regulations, and local environmental regulations. Responsible for ensuring that EPA Pretreatment Program requirements are accurate and complete. Assesses and develops programs to ensure the wastewater treatment plant meets NPDES permit compliance. Performs technical reviews to ensure that developed documents are legally and scientifically defensible and provides communication resources for the public, industry, government agencies, and service area districts. Responsible for assessing compliance histories of permitted facilities to determine enforcement needs. May occasionally work in confined spaces. Responsible for special projects as needed. Education and Experience: Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental) or a related field. Also requires at least 3 years experience in an Industrial Pretreatment Program or related environmental regulatory program. Must possess demonstrated ability to read, understand, and interpret regulations, technical documents, process documents, and plans. Specific knowledge of environmental regulations is required. Must have working knowledge of chemistry and laboratory processes, procedures, sampling, and chain of custody, as well as safety practices in using laboratory supplies and equipment. Must possess ability to identify work and take independent action or coordinate actions with others in order to accomplish work. Requires ability to compile and analyze fact and perform mathematical calculations. Also requires excellent communication skills. Must be able to deliver presentations and provide reports. Demonstrated ability to perform detailed work with a high degree of accuracy is required. Must be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt to changing needs on demand. Must possess a valid driver's license and a safe driving record. A copy of your current motor vehicle will be required if selected for an interview. An equivalent combination of training, education, and relevant job experience may be substituted.
