About 350.org 350.org is building a global climate movement. Our online campaigns, grassroots organizing, and mass public actions are coordinated by a global network active in over 188 countries. The number 350 means climate safety: to preserve a livable planet, scientists tell us we must reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere from its current level of 400 parts per million to below 350 ppm. We believe that a global grassroots movement can hold our leaders accountable to the realities of science and the principles of justice. That movement is rising from the bottom up all over the world, and is uniting to create the solutions that will ensure a better future for all. We want to be a laboratory for the best ways to strengthen the climate movement and catalyse transformation around the world. About the Global Organising & Campaigning Trainer The Global Organising & Campaigning Trainer will be responsible for leading and co-facilitating organising and campaign trainings in key countries and regions across the globe to further 350’s mission. Other key responsibilities include developing and implementing simple, flexible systems to institutionalise 350’s trainings; providing facilitation and training coaching & support to staff; and coordinating & supporting 350’s global training network. As we’re expanding our work into global south / developing regions, this role will significantly benefit from someone with strong experience working in such contexts. The ideal candidate will be an experienced campaigner, with a strong commitment to nonviolence and healthy group dynamics. They will bring experience working with or supporting people in repressive countries. And they will have excellent facilitation skills in participatory/experiential methodology across a variety of cultures. Essential skills and attributes include Skilled at group facilitation, including understanding of participatory training principles, approach, and pedagogy Training experience in at least half of the following: Organising, Campaign Strategy, Action Planning, Digital Organising, Direct Action, Team Building, Diversity/Anti-Oppression, Training for Trainers, Media and Communications Experience and competency working with multicultural groups, including interested in learning about different regions and their contexts Campaign and action experience in social or environmental justice Strong email communication skills, and comfort working remotely & independently with colleagues in multiple time-zones via skype, conference calls, spreadsheets, google docs and other online tools Clear, constructive communication Fluent in spoken and written English Willingness to travel internationally Demonstrated ability to flexibly adjust roles as needed in service of mission Desired (but not required) skills and experiences Expertise in the climate change arena Experience working with a training organisation Experience training in multiple countries, and with international groups Experience planning and executing successful grassroots pressure campaigns from start to finish Knowledge and passion about the global climate crisis and the politics of Climate Justice. Experience working with both NGOs and grassroots groups. Connection to existing networks of trainers.
