Engineer III
(1983 - Skilled) - Location: MD Department Of The Environment, 2500
Broening Highway, Baltimore MD 21224. Salary: $35,822 - $53,511
Grade 16. Closing Date: December 18, 2000.: This is the experienced
level of engineering work in the disciplines and specialties involved
in the design of systems, utilities, and support facilities related
to the construction of buildings and marine structures. An employee
in this class applies established engineering principles to design
and develop mechanical, electrical, electronic, structural, hydraulic,
civil, hydrological or comparable systems and their components necessary
in the support of building and marine construction. Incumbent analyzes
technical data, designs, and specifications to conceive practical
formats or layouts which can be produced by existing construction,
manufacturing and erection facilities and methods. This person analyzes
engineering proposals, process requirements and related technical
data to determine feasibility and practicality from the standpoint
of costs, available space, time limitations, State planning, availability
of standard equipment and other technical and economic factors affecting
engineering decisions. Employee provides technical information concerning
construction and manufacturing techniques, materials, properties
and process advantages and limitations affecting long-range engineering
planning. This employee must study engineering literature and keep
abreast of engineering progress, particularly in the specialty area.
Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree in engineering from
an accredited college or university approved by the Engineer's Council
for Professional Development in the engineering discipline of the
option for which application is made. Experience: Two years of engineering
experience in the construction of building or marine structures
involving the analysis of technical data, designs, and specifications
for engineering systems, utilities and support facilities related
to buildings or marine structures appropriate to the option for

Geologist
V, Geohydrology (1697) - Department of the Environment.
Salary: $40,820 - $61,071 (Grade 18). This position will serve as
a Section Head for the State Superfund Section. The main purpose
will be to supervise and direct a staff of geologists and other
staff professionals in a Statewide program that conducts environmental
investigations at potentially contaminated sites. The position will
assign sites to staff, set goals and deadlines for projects, review
geologic and technical reports and correspondence prepared by consultants
and staff for technical competency and ensure that projects are
completed within budget and by the date specified. This position
requires technical report writing and will, on occasion, be required
