Analyst II, Department of Fisheries, Wildlife, and Environmental
Law Enforcement. Salary Range: $775.26 to $852.74. Comments: This
is a time contract position (approx 30hrs per week) and will function
as part of the Riverways Programs staff team. The incumbent will
coordinate the ecological work of the program, particularly in the
areas of in stream flow and aquatic habitat. Duties: 1. Design and
support research to understand the relationship between water quality,
water quantity and ecology, e.g., to quantify the water levels necessary
to support healthy functioning riverine and other water-dependent
ecosystems. 2. Assist in the design and implementation of in stream
flow monitoring programs to collect hydrological and related ecological
data. 3. Represents the Department and the Riverways Programs at
interagency meetings, commission hearings, task forces, boards,
conference, and state and non-government committees as needed to
share information and develop guidelines, recommendations and policies.
4. Coordinate Riverways' and others' review from a hydrological
and biological perspective of various laws, regulations, policies,
plans and other actions affecting rivers and streams, including:
a) the Water Management Act; b) the Interbasin Transfer Act; c)
new or renewed FERC licenses; d) the drafting and passage of state
laws promoting water conservation and/or protecting in stream flowe)
serve as the Programs' primary specialist on water quantity issues,
assisting in efforts to include biological and flow criteria to
the Massachusetts Surface Water Quality Standards. 5. Prepares brochures,
pamphlets, slide presentations and other materials to educate citizens
about the importance of in stream flow to the integrity of aquatic
ecosystems. 6. Coordinate work on the above areas with all of DFWELE's
and other state and federal programs relating to in stream flow,
aquatic habitat and watershed-based ecological planning, protection
and stewardship. 7. Assist communities, watershed associations,
EOEA watershed teams and others in the identification, protection
and stewardship of waters with ecological significance to help steer
growth away from ecologically important resources and habitats.
8. Assist EOEA Watershed Initiative Watershed Teams, municipalities
and watershed groups with projects that delineate natural communities

Analyst IV, Department of Environmental Protection. Salary
Range: $900.46 to $1,176.95. Comments: Filling this position is
subject to the availability of funding. This is a temporary backfill
position. Salary Range effective 01-07-2001 - $927.47-$1236.50 Duties:
Under the general supervision of the Audits/Site Management Section
Chief, the EA/EE IV will be responsible for: -supervising staff
to ensure that audit program goals are met and audit decisions are
made consistently and efficiently; -reviewing and editing correspondence
related to audits and site management; -assisting the Section Chief
in planning, program development and administration of the regional
audit program; -participating in audit selection and assignment,
and tracking of technical screening and inspection activities; -conducting
audit, site management and enforcement activities; and -other duties
in support of Bureau of Waste Site Cleanup and Department programs.
Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have at least (A)
five years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, technical or professional
experience in the field of environmental science, biology, chemistry,
earth science, environmental health, meteorology, natural science,
toxicology or public health, of which (B) at least three years must
have been in a professional capacity, and of which (C) at least
one year must have been in a supervisory, managerial or administrative
capacity, or (D) any equivalent combination of the required experience

Environmental Engineer I,
Department of Environmental Protection. Salary Range: $652.64 to
$842.16. Comments: Filling this position is subject to the availability
of funding. Duties: Under the direct supervision of staff of higher
grade, participates in review of Air Operating Permit applications
and assists in drafting Operating Permits for commercial, industrial,
municipal, etc. facilities. Participates in determination of compliance
status of sources with Massachusetts and federal environmental Air
Pollution Control Regulations. Reviews applications for new or modified
facilities and drafts approvals for same. Incumbent assists in field
inspections of operating permit subject facilities and prepare reports
on compliance status of said facilities; and performs other related
duties as required. Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must
have at least (A) two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time,
technical or professional experience in the field of environmental
engineering, civil engineering, sanitary engineering, mechanical
engineering, chemical engineering or public health engineering.
Special Requirements: Based on assignment, possession of a current
and valid Massachusetts Class 3 Motor Vehicle Operator's License.

Analyst III - Weekly Salary Range: $827.90 - $1076.12.
BWP Compliance & Enforcement. Position Number: 03805. Location:
Wilmington. Duty Statement: Under the supervision of an employee
of higher grade, the candidate will conduct multi-media inspections
at facilities that are subject to complying with Massachusetts hazardous
waste, air quality, industrial wastewater, toxics use reduction
and solid waste laws and regulations. The candidate will review
technical reports, interpret analytical data, prepare inspection
reports, prepare enforcement correspondence, and update State and
Federal computer databases relative to these inspections. The candidate
will provide technical support to analysts of equivalent or lower
grade levels. The candidate will provide technical assistance and
respond to inquiries by the general public, the regulated community
and local government officials on environmental issues within the
Department's purview. The candidate will perform other related duties
