Engineer II/III #20-82284CR; Salary Open; Lincoln - Public
Health Assurance-Regulation & Licensure. Review facility plans/specifications,
construction, and operation of water supply systems, swimming pools,
mobile home parks and other facilities to determine compliance with
state/federal laws and regulations. Negotiate with consulting engineers
on basic design/features of sanitary significance; conduct onsite
inspections; represent the agency at meetings; talk to individuals
and groups to promote environmental health; and provide technical
assistance to local /municipal/industrial officials, engineers,
and public to eliminate health hazards. Requirements: Bachelor's
degree in civil, mechanical, chemical or agricultural engineering
plus two years (four at the III level) experience in environmental
engineering work. OR Master's degree in sanitary engineering plus
one year (three for the III level) experience in environmental related
engineering work. At the II level, registration as a professional
engineer may substitute for the required two years experience. At
the III level, must be a registered professional engineer in Nebraska

Lincoln. Provide on-site pollution prevention assessments to Nebraska
businesses and communities. Coordinate department's Pollution Prevention
Team efforts. Participate in related assistance programs and teams.
Ensure department's pollution prevention strategy is implemented
through cooperation and consultation inside the agency, state government
and with other public and private environmental assistance groups.
Develop and enhance partnerships with organizations involved in
providing pollution prevention and other environmental assistance
services. Provide pollution prevention training to department, community
and business personnel. Manage grants related to the department's
pollution prevention efforts. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in
engineering, environmental, life or physical sciences or public
administration; Master's degree preferred. Five years experience
in regulatory environment; three years experience in business and
community outreach activities. Experience in team building, presentation
skills to external/internal audiences, and strong written and verbal
communication a must. Will consider any combination of education

to the NEP program and subsequent plans. Conduct or facilitate various
public meetings and public presentations. Coordinate the participation
of various local, state, federal and non-governmental organizations
in the NEP Program. Supervise related activities of program volunteers.
Coordinate the drafting and application of grants and contracts.
Manage grants and contracts related to the operations of the Division
of Environmental Assistance. Provide compliance assistance to small
communities related to environmental regulations. Assist in the
conduct of the pollution prevention and business assistance programs,
primarily as they relate to small communities. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's
degree in community planning, environmental studies, public administration
or business administration required. Understanding of environmental
regulations and five years experience in working with small communities
required. Demonstrated knowledge of small community dynamics, experience
in team building, presentation skills to external/internal audiences,
and strong communication skills a must. Will consider any combination
of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills
